Critical text by Domenico de Chirico
Lingering in oblivion, teetering on the edge between the heavens and the earth, remaining vigilant without fully immersing oneself in the feeble and deceiIul flow of things. True immersion, it seems, has only one way out, intersecting inexorably with the highest and most spontaneous manifestation of truth. Thus, if the state of things were ideally harmonious and solely dictated by Nature, the concept of anger would have no reason to exist, as it arises where one must necessarily fight against what seeks to distort the loftiest essence of things. It fights against presumed and erroneous stylizations of what by nature cannot be circumscribed, combating what offends both the uniqueness and heterogeneity of existence. And it’s upon these principles that “Hanging” is born, an exhibition journey with a deeply transcendental flavor, inclined toward a new symbolic form of knowledge that unfolds through vibrant artistic expressions.
Muted flashes of light intensely illuminate a deep and tumultuous night, branching out and expanding to sensitively touch all those acute strings that ofter stimulate a possible desire for inner harmony, free from the basest conven/ons, ready to observe the world from an increasingly immaterial perspective. To the tune of contrapuntal rhythms that mark a perpetual inner exploration, “Hanging” aspires to the “truth lying at the bottom, almost a forgotten dream,” as put by Italian poet and writer Umberto Saba. Thus, to fully comprehend and then express nakedly and with free verse the existential condition of man, in order to represent his intricate everyday reality teeming with astonishing nuances.
Among symbols of escape, personal affections and memories, spiritual ventures, invigorating digressions, and deep reflections, artists Riccardo Angelini, Piergiorgio Asuni, Althea and Carlotta Casiraghi, and Alessandro Di Sera are summoned here to “transcend,” to surpass while still remaining on this side, wavering in this world, pushing beyond any supposed order and the obligatory and also painful limits to generously gift us with new visions and equally new hopes for life.

Riccardo Angelini
In the changeable flow of the event, the poetics of Riccardo Angelini crosses the constant and imperishable becoming, transforming the living matter of painting into forms transcended from existence itself, revived and changed perpetually in their belonging to the time, conveyed in the mystery that encloses them and exposes them to a transformative, evolutionary, alchemical journey.
Atmospheres and depth of feeling emerge and offer themselves to the gaze as a watery dance of momentum and deposition, a primitive flow of instants that take fluctuating forms, fulgent and variable on the canvas, in organic continuity between pulviscular tones and the spring or stagnant matter, source of life and dissolution.
The natural colors chosen by the artist also live of a dual conjunction between origin and end, life and death, sacrifice and elevation.
Angelini, starting from the Three Signs of the Existence of the Buddhist teaching – suffering (Dukkha), impermanence (Anicca), and ‘non-s’ (Anatt) – performs a path of assumption, sublimation, and overcoming pain, touching a sacred sphere of puzzles and wonders that dissolve, wrap and condense in a lyrical and meditative work of rhythmic vitality, a conscious image revealed in a harmonious gesture, metaphor and symbol of the fusion between spirit and matter conducted through a purifying and absolute ritual, tending to nirvanic perfection.
Through the pictorial series recalling the Three Seals of the Dharma, Riccardo Angelini’s research reaches and rejoins the rivers of existence in the encounter of the elements, in the union and acceptance of suffering as a stage of transfused sacrifice, to be contemplated and offered to the view as nourishment and revelatory hymn of enlightened soteriology.
Piergiorgio Asuni
Through the artistic mastery of Piergiorgio Asuni, we immerse ourselves in a world where matter itself comes to life and dances to the rhythm of a primal life force. Born in Pedaso in the lower Marche region in 1961, Asuni embodies a deep connection with nature and with the intrinsic energy that animates all things.
His creations are a song to life in constant motion, an ode to the perpetual change that defines the universe. Asuni sees the idea as the magical fabric that shapes organic matter, giving it form and meaning. His sculptures are not just artworks, but tangible testaments to how the essence of an idea transforms into palpable beauty.
His Sardinian origin seems to blend with his art, creating a union between the wild landscape of the island and his vibrant creativity. Asuni embraces the tool as an extension of his own soul, capable of probing matter and revealing its intrinsic technique. His profound knowledge of tools and materials combines with innate intuition, allowing him to sculpt form directly from the soul of the matter itself.
Every sculpture by Asuni is a story of transformation. His works are not static, but vibrate with energy and movement. They represent an eternal dialogue between stillness and dynamism, between form and metamorphosis. The artist manages to capture the fleeting essence of change, freezing it into eternal works that resonate with the ceaseless rhythm of life.
Through Asuni’s art, we are offered a window into the infinite cycle of creation and destruction that permeates the universe. His sculptures are not only testaments to technical mastery but also messengers of a deep desire to understand and capture the very essence of existence. In a world where everything changes, Asuni’s works stand as milestones in our journey into the mystery of life.
Casiraw
In their artistic journey, Althea and Carlotta emerge as two souls intertwined by a passion for art and a shared vision. After cultivating their talents at the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata, these two sisters decided to merge their creativity and expertise. The result is a photographic experience that goes beyond the ordinary.
Their photography is infused with emotion, capturing the deep essence of the subjects they portray. Through their lens, the world is revealed in a new and bold perspective. They urge viewers to consider the details that often escape, unveiling hidden beauty in overlooked nuances.
Althea and Carlotta challenge the boundaries of “right” and “wrong,” embracing the art of inevitable inaccuracy. Their technique is solid, but it’s the soul behind each shot that shines. Their images are not merely photographs; they are open windows to the human experience, capturing the moment when the world and the observer intersect.
Through their constant search for inspiration and dialogue, the two sisters are ever-evolving. Their works embody this evolution, a fusion of past experiences and a desire for innovation. Each shot is a reflection of their dedication to see beyond appearances and reveal the pulsating heart of every subject.
In a world crowded with superficial images, Althea and Carlotta stand out as visual storytellers, guardians of stories that often go unheard. Their photography is an anthem to the beauty of imperfection, an ode to the power of an image to shake the soul and provoke reflection. With attentive eyes and a restless spirit, they continue to paint with light and gift the world with their unique and precious vision.
Alessandro Di Sera
The Stratification of Time and the Persistence of Memory
Alessandro Di Sera was born in 1982 in Fermo, Marche, where he currently resides and has his artistic studio. After graduating from the Institute of Art in Fermo, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, specializing in sculpture. Since 2006, he has primarily experimented with figurative painting on canvas, using both oil and acrylic, employing a spatula technique in which the material expression of color is foundational. He began exhibiting his works in 2012 and took part in various exhibitions, including the joint exhibition “From Form to Color” in 2014 in Altidona-Fermo and the solo exhibition “Still Life Living Nature” in Campofilone-Fermo in 2016. During the same years, he also engaged in marble sculpture, driven by the need to express his creativity through three-dimensional form.
In 2019, he experimented with a new technique, working with wax, a fascinating and complex material sensitive to environmental conditions, which the artist perceives as highly “vital.” He developed a personal technique reminiscent of ancient encaustic methods, mixing different types of wax with oxides or oil colors, discovering various expressive possibilities that unite his two creative realms: painting and sculpture.
Alessandro Di Sera creates abstract works with multiple layers, utilizing dripping techniques or sculpting surfaces like a sculptor. His color choices vary based on the sensations he wants to evoke, focusing on subtle shifts in color gradients or playing with contrasts, ranging from cool gray tones to shades from deep red to pale pink, and even encompassing icy tones to intense blues. These create spaces where time seems to move slowly across ancient lands, frozen surfaces, or motionless skies.
In his works, the artist overlays and conceals memories and experiences with wax, covering and partially revealing them. Some pieces are characterized by opaque and milky surfaces, hinting at the underlying structures; others open up, allowing viewers to discover the complexity and richness of the composition. Thus, the observer can delve into the material, much like their own memories, occasionally glimpsing through diaphanous surfaces that hint at submerged worlds. The visual and tactile sensations of the wax drips appear to have halted time, yet in an instant, everything will return to movement, slowly and inevitably changing. Alessandro Di Sera creates abstract landscapes brimming with tranquility and harmony, reflections on the passage of time, and an invitation to look beyond the surface to dig into deeper thoughts and traces of our memory.
